What is it: Walbrook & Avon started as a pop-up restaurant in 2009, and is now open permanently, three days a week from 7pm every Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Located in the heritage F. Cooke pie and mash shop on Broadway Market, it’s an atmospheric and thoroughly relaxing haven after a long day in the office.
Why go: Love your comfort food? So do we, and at Walbrook & Avon the wonderful changing weekly menus are full of fodder to fuel, especially welcome now that winter has really made it’s mark. Set in a marvellous marble adorned eel and pie shop with original tiles and large mirrors, the atmosphere is laid-back, no-nonsense with a touch of quirky British charm.
